Maestro Morrow is in unstoppable form

POTTING machine Tommy Morrow has begun the pool season in fantastic style - with two superb victories in recent weeks.

The Dervock maestro stormed to victory in the first event in the NIPA Open Tour at the 147 Club in Omagh on February 23.

Tommy won 35 frames for the loss of only 9 on his way to success.

The runner up was Sam Newell from North Down who was also in fine form on the day.

Tommy’s results were: Preliminary round: Greg Stevenson 1, Tommy Morrow 7; Round 1: Tommy Morrow 7, Tyler McConnell 1; Quarter final: Dean McDonagh 1, Tommy Morrow 7; Semi-final: Tommy Morrow 7, Ronan McCarthy 4; Final (best of 13): Tommy Morrow (Ballymoney) 7, Sam Newell (Bangor)2.

Tommy continued his blistering form with another outstanding performance in a Challenge Match against Irish ranked No2 Gavin Cleary.

He was simply unstoppable in the showdown, defeating favourite Cleary 21-12 at Dublin’s D15 Club on February 28.

Tommy will now look forward to forthcoming Tour Events at the Primacy, Bangor (Sunday) and Event three at Potters in Coleraine on Sunday, April 6.
