A score of 37 points was just enough for Peter Ludlow and June Irwin to win Yate’s Salver at Royal Portrush.
The pair birdied nine to be out with 20 points scored. No more birds were found as the back nine proved to be the tougher of the two, giving up just 17 points to get Peter and June to 37. Just one back came Dr Alan Irwin with Heidi Simpson on 36. Even with blanking the seventh their birdie four at nine saw them match the winner’s halfway total of 20 points.
Some shots slipped away and their three at thirteen was not enough to add more than 16 coming back to miss out by a point. Third place was taken by Andy and Angela Baird with their steady eighteen out and sixteen back 34.
