Records tumbled at the Portrush Parkrun on Saturday.
The low tide left plenty of firm sand for the 37 runners taking part. There was a light breeze on the runners’ backs on the way home and of course bright winter sunshine. The overnight frost left the promenade icy in places so the run started and finished on the beach for the first time.
Springwell’s Chris Denton and Gemma Turley were the first male and female runners’ home. Both set new course records, Chris 18:01 and Gamma 20:46. Bryan Edgar also set a new Age Graded course record, recording a 78.95% run (18:41).
Springwell times - Johnny Goldie 20:32 (PB), Graeme Montgomery 21:52 (PB), Karen McLaughlin 21:56 (PB), Nigel Armstrong 22:04 (PB), Mervyn Thompson 22:12 (PB), Gary Watton 23:07 (PB), Gary Kendall 24:08 (PB), John Ferguson 24:10 (PB), Sarah Chestnutt 25:48, Lisa Boyle 28:09 (PB), Margaret Edgar 28:09 (PB), Caroline Taylor 28:29 (PB), Debbie Tutty 28:30 (PB), Angela Calderwood 29:49 (PB), Jack Kendall 32:36 (PB), Nicki Higgins 32:45 (PB) and Karen Morrison 35:08.
