Springwell had two representatives participating in this all-Ireland competion held over a muddy, sticky but fast 8Km course, in Dundalk, with a total of 255 competitors finishing the race

Bryan Edgar and Gerry O’Doherty were our two representatives, as part of a County Londonderry/Derry composite team, with the remainder coming from City of Derry Spartans, with the first 6 finishers to count towards the team placings to count.

In the fast and furious racing, with all the top X-Country specialists in Ireland taking part, Bryan ran strongly to finish 23rd in the MV50 category while Gerry had an excellent run, finishing in 29:19 and clinching 2nd place in the MV60 category. These excellent performances from our boys enabled their County team to finish a fine 4th Overall in the competition with, Bryan and Gerry being the first two home for their team. Full results are available on the Athletics Ireland Facebook page.

On Sunday 24th, in the third round of this very popular series of 5K road races, held in Londonderry/Derry, Springwell had four representatives take to the start line with first home being Aiden Devine running strongly to finish in an excellent 18:49, followed by Gerard Mullan, recording a terrific PB of 19:23, then Connor McStravick in 21:04 and finally Llimavady Newcomer of the Year award winner Dee Boorman in 23:07.

Also on Sunday Dale Corbett took part in the Donegal LGFA 5k. He showed his potential by securing victory, in a rapid 17:27.
