Have your say

The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games produced outstanding performances from our female athletes and raised the profile of female sport.

As a result, Springwell Running Club would like to promote female health and fitness by introducing the Purple Ladies 5K. The run will take place on Wednesday 15th May at 7.30pm from the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney. This ladies only event is open to ladies over 14 years old.

The route will go through Riverside Park and incorporate the new foot bridge at the Railway Station and organisers would like to thank Translink for their support in this venture.

They would also like to thank our sponsors: GES Group, Causeway Route 2 Fitness, Flash In The Pan (Bushmills) and Ballymoney Sports Advisory Group for their support.

Entry forms are available in local Leisure Centre’s or can be downloaded from the clubs web site www.springwellrunners.com. You can also enter online at www.athleticsni.org (don’t let the “athletics” bit put you off).

Entry fees are £6 (affiliated) or £8 (unaffiliated). There is a Technical T-shirt for the first 200 entries. There are prizes available for all age categories as well as spot prizes. Fancy dress is optional. Closing date for pre entries is Wednesday 8th May 2013.

Registration and on the night entries will take place from 6.00pm at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre where there will be stalls promoting health and beauty! These stalls will be available before and after the run when runners can take advantage of some post-race refreshments.

Come and give running a go!

Beginner’s sessions take place every Monday night at 6.00pm at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney and Saturday at 9.30am at the Sports Pavilion, University of Ulster, Coleraine. Training in Limavady takes place on a Monday at 6.00pm from the Roe Valley Leisure Centre.

Everyone is welcome - even if you have never tried running before and would like to give it a try!
