Tolulope Jide-Ojo from Portstewart crossed the line first in the girls race at the eagerly anticipated first round of the Flahavan’s Porridge Athletics NI Primary School Cross Country League.

Tolulope was closely followed by Lucy McCallum of DH Christie, who finished in third place.

In the boys race the top placed local runner was Patrick Irwin of Portrush Primary School.

The popular sporting league is back again this year thanks to Athletics NI and family porridge producer Flahavan’s, who are hoping to inspire a new generation of local sporting talent by introducing them to athletics and the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

The 2013/14 league kicked off on Monday 14 October with the help of Olympic Triathlete, Aileen Reid and will see over 4000 primary school pupils from across Northern Ireland compete for a place in the finals.
