CHURCHLANDS Golden Gloves ABC were celebrating last week as two of their promising young boxers won titles at the County Derry Championships.

Fourteen-year-old Jamie Bradley and club mate Lewis Dickey won their respective weight divisions at the championship at Ring ABC last Sunday, February 5th.

Jamie, fighting in the 44kg class, beat John Grant from St John’s, Swatragh, 6-5 in the final bout to win the County title.

Ulster champion Lewis Dickey’s bout with Martin Quinn of St Canice’s went to a countback after finishing 6-6, with Lewis winning 2-1 on the countback.

Coach Mickey Fleming was delighted with their performance. “They have worked really hard for this and fully deserve it,” he told Times Sport.

Churchlands Golden Gloves ABC are holding a Fight Night in Coleraine Leisure Cente on February 17 admission is £7 for adults and £5 for Under-16s.
