Coleraine Seconds narrowly defeated by City of Derry

ON Saturday Coleraine Seconds took on City of Derry at Rugby Avenue but lost out in the dying minutes of the match.

In the first half Steven Dickey scored a great try within five minutes, converted by the veteran David Barber. Barber picked up three more from a penalty on 10 minutes.

Derry lost a player to a yellow card a short time later and on 25 minutes the Coleraine attack yielded another penalty which Barber again slotted between the posts. As the half came to a close Derry went on the offensive and scored under the posts for a converted try.

In the second half Derry nipped away Coleriane's lead with penalties on 16 minutes and 34 minutes, leaving the score level at 13-all. Former Coleraine player Danny Platt was shown a yellow card, shortly after Derry picked up five points from a push over try on 37 minutes, and spent the final minutes off the pitch. The final score Coleraine 13 City of Derry 18.

In their preparations for the next round of the Foster Cup, Coleraine Fourths travelled to Ballynahinch and came out on top with a scoreline of 11-15.
