Coleraine Swimming Club senior PTL team finished the season 2nd in Ulster in the inter-clubs competition.

They were presented the Runner up trophy in Ulster after winning all but one of their galas against other Ulster clubs in the Division 1 category.

This is a wonderful achievement for the Coleraine Club and this is the highest Ulster ranking that have had in recent years. The swimmers have trained hard all season and the training and hard work has paid off.

The Coleraine Swimming Club team were presented with their Ulster Runner Up trophy recently after an end of season gala where the top 6 competitors in Ulster in each discipline competed for individual medals across a variety of strokes and distances. Coleraine had 13 swimmers qualified in the top 6 and therefore competing in this end of season PTSA Final. From these 13 competitors they won a total of 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. Shannon Baird won 3 gold medals in her three events with Molly Curry, Albert Dallas and Finn McEwan winning the other golds.

This was a fantastic result and a great way to end the inter club swimming season. Training still continues for the entire club until the end of May and individual training will continue past that for a few elite swimmers as they continue to train for The Scottish Open Championships and Irish Age Group Championships in July.

Thanks must go to all the volunteer coaches who have given so much time and knowledge preparing all the members for internal galas, inter club galas, Ulster, Irish and British competitions.

The junior swimmers’ Aquasprint Team are still looking forward to their Ulster Division 1 finals on Friday 3rd June – when they will complete against the 2 of the top 6 clubs in Ulster where they will be hoping for a top four finish.
