Eoghan Rua make it three wins in a row

Playing with the aid of a stiffish wind Eoghan Rua opened up a two point lead by the third minute with scores from Declan Mullan and Ruari Mooney. A couple of chances went abegging for Greenlough before they sliced through for Gary McPeake to put Ryan Tohill in to beat Ryan McGeough.

The home side responded well and hit the next six points in a row. Ciaran McGoldrick levelled matters from a tight angle in the 12th minute and repeated the trick three minutes later from practically the same spot. Greenlough then found the target for only the second time in the first half but it was a fine point from Ryan Tohill to bring his side to within four. The sides traded a couple of wides each before Gavin McWilliams pointed a free to put the home side five up, 0-9 to 1-1, at half-time.

Scores were much harder to come by in the second half as both teams continued with the possession game and getting plenty of players back deep to cut down the space. Greenlough were able to turn the ball over on several occasions but it was their finishing that let them down. They did manage the first two points of the second half in a two minute speel before the end of the third quarter, Christopher maguire and wing back Gary Maguire scoring. A couple of balck cards followed in qucik succession, one for each side, as the visitors were just a kick of the ball away from leveling matters. Trading points, Ciaran McGoldrick for the home side with Christopher Maguire, from a free, bringing it back to three again going into the last ten minutes. Greenlough never really thtreatened to get the goal they needed as Eoghan Rua closed out the final minutes, Gavin McWilliams pointing a free a minute from time to ease any nerves for the Coleraine men, three wins from three a solid start to the season.
