Johnny first home in parkrun

The high tide and wind wasn’t enough to affect the runners at the Portrush parkrun on Saturday.

Springwell’s Johnny Goldie 21:30 and Sonia Knox 22:20(PB) were the first male and female runners’ home.

Alsitair Shaw finished second at the Waterworks Parkrun in a new PB time of 18:25 while Tommy Bradley finished sixth at the ECOS Parkrun in 20:55(PB).

Springwell’s Bryan Edgar and Jim Breen travelled to Cookstown for the rescheduled Drum Manor 10K. The race was snowed off in January was part of Sperrin Harriers Winter League.

The Springwell runners had a good day winning their age categoies Bryan Edgar came home in 39:24 (1st MO50) and Jim Breen 41:00 (1st MO55).

Pierce McCullagh of the host club Sperrin Harriers led the field home in 36:11 and Anne Paul City of Derry (41:28) was the first lady.

The Roe Valley Country Park Trail Run sponsored by Gabriel Devlin Motors, Limavady takes place on Saturday 9 February. Springwell Running Club the event which is organized by Springwell Running Club in association with Northern Ireland Environment Agency kicks off with the Primary School (800m) at 11.30 followed by the Secondary School (1600m) at 11.50. The females get the main 8K race underway at 12.15 followed by the male vets at 12.25 and the male open race at 12.35. Entries will be taken on the day from 10.00am.
