“We really enjoyed being involved last year as a sponsor and are pleased to be able to continue our support of the Supersport Race which takes place on the Friday evening of the Armoy Road Races.

“As a keen bike fan I have been consistently impressed by how the Club has managed the Armoy Road Races and how the popularity of the races has grown each year.

“Having the Supersport Race on the Friday evening has been a great addition to the programme and the fans have really got behind it with their support. We’re really looking forward to this year’s event.”

“In 2014 we decided to run a race on the Friday after practice.

“This proved a great success and the Supersport Race is now a firm fixture on the Friday evening and a great culmination to Friday’s practice racing. The race sees the bigger bikes take to the Armoy roads for the very first competitive race and it sets the tone for the next 10 races.

“The race also contributes to our ‘Man of the Meeting’ Award which also includes the second Supersport race on Saturday, the Open Race and of course the SGS International ‘Race of Legends’.

“We really are indebted to our sponsors who help and support us so we can continue to put on a fantastic event.”

Meanwhile, organisers have advised spectators about road works on roads leading to the race circuit.

Major road works covering about a third of the A26 between Ballymena and Ballymoney, which forms part of the main route north from Belfast via Antrim to the Armoy Road Races are causing travel delays due to restricted speed limits (40mph), single lane carriageway and heavy machinery operating over the 4 mile stretch before the Armoy junction while they upgrade the main carriageway.

Roads CLOSE on FRIDAY 29th July 2016 at 12.30pm for Practice and Qualifying and will OPEN again no later than 9.30 pm.

The plan (as usual) is to run the Supersport 1 race towards the end of the evening practice.
