Scratchlabels UK Grand Slam of Darts this Saturday

This Saturday (April 30) sees the Ballybrakes Community Indoor Bowling Club hosting the introduction of the '˜Scratch Labels UK Grand Slam of Darts' to the local darting calendar.

The event looks to be one of the biggest of the year with 80 players from around the province competing for a share of the £1,000 prize fund. There is a mix with many local league and county players taking on some of the best international players in the country including Northern Ireland Team Captain Davy Glenn and Neil Duff who only just missed out on a place at the televised Singha Beer Grand Slam of Darts. Current NI Gold Cup Champion Geoff Matthews will also be in attendance as well as a host of former Internationals and Northern Ireland Champions including Geoff Wylie, John Elder and Daniel McDonald. The event will see the players split into 16 groups of 5 playing a round robin with the top 2 in each group progressing into the knockout stages. The event has been made possible thanks to the Ballybrakes Bowling Club and Scratch Labels UK who have sponsored the event. Also the Coleraine and District Darts League, Mandy’s Inn, Hedgie’s Decorating Services, Coleraine Villa Club, Ian Patterson from Patterson’s TV & Aerial Services & Patterson’s Trophies and Engraving, Area One County Darts, Winmau and Alan McVicker from the Joseph McVicker Memorial who have all sponsored boards. Also thanks to the Ballymoney Darts League and Joe Donnelly who have provided the stands for the event.
