Seconds see off Carrickfergus

Coleraine seconds continued their winning ways with a resounding 34-5 league win over Carrickfergus Seconds on Saturday.

On 15 minutes, from a line out ball, Ronnie Caskey fed the ball to No8 Andrew Hutchinson and he powered over from 15 metres out for a great opening try.

The next try came from a backline move which saw Stephen Dickey feed the ball to Jonny Lowe, who sprinted to score in the corner. Cameron Jinks converted.

Jinks added to his growing tally when he scored a penalty a short time later.

The visitors scored an unconverted try just before the break, and at half time the score was 15-5.

In the second half it was Coleraine all the way.

The first score went to Brian Cochrane, a fine solo effort from the halfway line, slicing through the opposition. Jinks converted.

Great pressure from the forwards saw prop Aidie Nevin and Russell Smith make some hard yards. Greg Neely was denied a score when he was brought down just short of the line.

Quick thinking from scrum-half Nicky Blair saw him pick up from the base of the scrum and dive over to score. Jinks converted.

The final try came courtesy of good forward work, Caskey and John Boyd driving into the Carrick 22. Again the powerhouse Hutchinson was on hand to take the ball over the line and score. Final score 34-5.

In the other home match the result was Coleraine 3s 5 Bangor 2s 29.
