POOL: Tommy is 147 champ!

TOMMY Morrow won the 147 Singles title for a second time at the Festival of Pool on Sunday.

The McNulty's A player fired in an eight ball finish to defeat John McAllister of McNulty's/UUC A 6-3 to complete a deserved victory.

Tommy won his first Individuals final when he defeated John 6-1 three years ago.

The 21-year-old Dervock dynamo raced into a 3-0 lead after taking the opening frame in which John always looked likely to win.

John then pulled a frame back before Tommy took the fifth frame to establish a 4-1 lead.

John again ralled to take frame six but Tommy responded to go 5-2 ahead.

In frame seven John compiled a tremendous break and finish to close the gap to 5-3.

But Morrow was unphased as he stepped in to clinch victory with an eight ball finish in the ninth frame.

Holder Davy Tosh lost in the last 16, going out 5-1 to an excellent performance by Railway Arms player Raymond Baxter.

Raymond went on to defeat Sperrin's Raymond Stockman 5-2 in the quarter-finals before losing 5-1 to Morrow in the semi-finals.

John McAllister defeated Dervock's Gavin Patton 5-4 in his semi-final after establishing a 4-0 lead.

Congratulations to Tommy on taking the title - a tremendous achievement for a 21-year-old.
