POOL 'Bobby' dazzles in Under-21 victory

MARK 'Bobby' Hutchinson chalked up a second victory at the Festival of Pool when he won the Davy Houston Memorial Under-21 Singles.

The talented McNulty's player defeated new Under-18 Open champion Scott Clark of Scott's Bar 3-2.

Both have won the League's Most Improved Player honours in recent seasons and are now beginning to show their enormous potential.

And League PRO Raymond Stockman fully expects both to win the Festival's blue riband competition - the 147 Singles - in the future.

This was a final of the highest order and which saw 'Bobby' go into an early 2-0 lead.

But 15-year-old Scott compiled a superb eight ball finish to make it 2-1 and then levelled when he fired in a seven ball finish from his break to set up a deciding frame.

Despite Scott's spirited comeback 'Bobby' clinched victory with an eight ball finish to take the title.

Tommy's a Sperrin man!

LAST week we reported on how Tommy Morrow lifted the 147 Singles title at the Festival of Pool with a 6-3 victory over John McAllister.

And, of course, as everyone in the Coleraine Bass League knows, Tommy plays for Sperrin and not McNulty's A!

Our report should also have read that Tommy defeated Raymond Stockman 5-2 in the quarter-finals and then Raymond Baxter 5-1 in the semi-finals.

Sorry Tommy - our error!

Tommy's Captains' joy

ROOST'S Tommy McDonald was this year winner of the Coleraine Times Division 2 Captains' Cup.

Veteran Tommy edged out Pearse Sharratt of McNulty's/UUC in a closely contested final.

In the semi-finals Tommy triumphed over J Sweeney while Pearse beat S Ramsey.
