RUGBY: Portrush to host Ulster's first Tag Beach Rugby Festival
NORTHERN Ireland's first ever Bud Light Beach Tag Rugby festival takes place in Portrush this Saturday.
Mixed men and women five-a-side teams will take part in the inaugural competition which is expected to attract players from all over Northern Ireland.
Bud Light Tag has extended its events all over Ireland with festivals taking place in beaches in Cork, Kerry, Sligo and Wexford.
Teams for the Portrush tournament will check in at 1.15pm on Saturday and following captains' and referees' briefings, play will start at 2pm and go on until around 5.30pm to 6pm, with the finals completing the day.
From the outset leagues of five teams will play group matches lasting ten minutes, with no half-time interval.
A post-match presentation of prizes will be held at the Ramada Hotel, Portrush where participants can also enjoy the screening of the South Africa v Lions Test match.
Any local teams wishing to enter must register online only and applications must be completed before 4pm this Thursday (June 25). This is to allow fixtures and match schedules to be compiled.
