NRC students embrace the musical '˜Madness' of '˜Our House'!

And now those talented youngsters from the Ballymoney campus of Northern Regional College are preparing to bring the ‘musical Madness’ to the stage of the Riverside Theatre in Coleraine with their production of ‘Our House’.

Level 3 Production Arts and Performing Arts students in association with Northern Lights Production Company present the award winning musical ‘Our House’ at the Riverside from June 1st – 4th.

Following on from the success of ‘Into the Woods’ last year, students are now taking on this international musical.

Our House is a musical with music and lyrics by Madness and a book by playwright Tim Firth. The show features songs from the ska/pop band Madness, and was named after one of their popular hit singles, “Our House”.

Premiering at The Cambridge Theatre in 2002, Our House was the winner of the 2003 Olivier award for Best New Musical and has since gone on to tour both nationally and internationally to great acclaim. Through the music of Madness, writer Tim Firth explores the themes of love, family values, growing up, responsibility and dealing with losing the people that shape us.

Paul McMaster, Northern Regional College course co-ordinator explains, “Performing the musical ‘Our House’ will provide the students on the Level 3 Performing Arts course with a platform to showcase their newly developed skills in Drama, Dance and Music. This invaluable experience will not only give the performing arts and music students the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre, it will also allow the Level 3 Production Arts students to work hand in hand with industry professionals.”

Eoin Toner, a second Year Level 3 Performing Arts student at the Ballymoney campus plays the role of Joe. Abigail Fullerton, previously from Dunluce School plays the role of Sarah.

Billie and Angie are played by Mary Kearns and Cherith McCook , both second Year Level 3 Performing Arts students. Emmo and Lewis are played by Tommie O’Neill and Isaac Malcom. The role of the Dad is played by Kurtis Given and Mum is played by Darrian Quigg, and past pupil, Padaer McKinney from St Patricks College, Maghera plays the role of Reecy.
