Talk on Beresford family at Society

Coleraine Historical Society's monthly talk programme continues with an account of the Beresford Family by guest speaker Aaron Callan.

The talk - at the Sandel Centre on Tuesday, May 17 at 7.30pm - will also focus on Henry Barre Beresford (1781-1837) who was a major force in Co Londonderry politics and society.

An obelisk was built in his honour just outside Limavady.

There are four slate plaques on the monument, one of which says: “This pillar was erected by the tenants of the estates of the most noble the Marquess of Waterford in this county to commemorate the virtues and talents that distinguished and adorned their late agent, Henry Barré Beresford Esq’’.
