Truck Fest set to roar on to the North Coast!

This Sunday, August 21, the North West 200 Pits will host the truck festival and family fun day.

The action begins at 10am, and there’s something for all the family.

The event will once again raise money for the RNLI. Organiser Derek Thorpe, chairman of the 15-strong organising committee, told The Times this week, that the event is set to be even bigger this year.

“We had planned for around 50 trucks last year, and we ended up with over 200. This year to date there are over 300 signed up to take part - it really will be a big spectacle,” he said.

Last year’s Truck Fest raised an incredible £11,000 for the RNLI, and Norman, a member of the coastguard himself, is hoping that they can beat that this year:

“The RNLI is a charity that we all see at work here on the North Coast, “ he said. “We were amazed at the money raised last year, but we hope that we might be able to raise a bit more this year.”

With truckers from across the Province, Scotland, England and the Republic of Ireland all set to drive the world famous NW200 circuit in convoy at 4pm, this promises to be a real spectacle.

The event will begin at 10am with bouncy castles, face painting and plenty of activities for the kids. There will also be a food village, local traders and craft stalls.

Local entertainer Ritchie Remo will be on hand to keep the toes tapping.

He’ll be on stage alongside Ballymoney’s Yasmin Walker, Sara Crockett and Niall McLaughlin.
