Few US country stars have established quite the same rapport with country music enthusiasts in Northern Ireland as Gene Watson.

This legendary artiste has been a regular visitor to the province for the best part of the past two decades and now he is set to return to these shores once again.

Gene will be joined at Tullyglass - and a date at the Marketplace Theatre, Armagh on August 10 - by Philomena Begley and Ray Lynam.

Gene will also be among the VIP performers at the annual Country Fest which will be held this year in Letterkenny on July 31 and August 1.

James McGarrity, from JW Promotions who is organising the Ballymena and Armagh shows, believes that Gene’s down to earth ways along with his professionalism on stage have helped to earn him a special place in the hearts of Irish county fans.

“Even though other acts have not been too fussed on coming here because of the troubles in the past Gene has always travelled and never fails to put on a very strong performance. He is a great act – a true showman with a super backing band,” says McGarrity.

Tickets for both shows are on sale from the Marketplace theatre Armagh on 02837521820 and the Tullyglass Hotel Ballymena on 02825652639.
