Dublin delight for Aghadowey Ulster Scots poet

Burgess, who now lives in Londonderry, had been facing an up hill struggle to break into the southern book market, but he’s finally made it with his publications - ‘Anthology of Ulster Scots Poetry’, ‘Dae Ye See’ and Ah Jist Wunner’ - now on the shelves of the illustrious ‘Dubray Books’ on Dublin’s most famous street, Grafton Street.

Delighted with this breakthrough, Wilson said: “This is what I have been longing for and waiting for it for several years.

“I am really delighted, I think it is fair to say that getting into the Dublin book market has been an ambition of mine.”

His books have already received a warm welcome in Ireland’s literacy capital.

This honour is only one in a long line of accolades for the writer who cites Seamus Heaney and Patrick Kavanagh as influences in his work. The poet reads on Radio Ulster’s Ulster Scot programme and he’s just recently read with the Ulster Orchestra.
