Let’s sing the old High School song one last time...for charity
It struck a high note to mark an end of an era for Coleraine High School. And no doubt the heartfelt rendition brought a few tears.
As 2015 signals the final year of Coleraine High School pre amalgamation with Coleraine Inst, the ‘Class of 1985’ wanted to come up with something that would mark the occasion in a positive way.
So thirty years after they left ‘the High’ everyone got together to sing the school song, Non Nobis Domine, one last time.
The milestone event was open to all past pupils and everyone gathered together in the school assembly hall on Friday afternoon, May 8.
It was decided that the song would be a great way to raise money for The Friends of the Cancer Centre in Belfast to remember those who had lost their lives to cancer or are currently battling the disease.
The organisers Gill Hassan Hallam, Donna Dickson (nee Millar) and Paula McDowell (nee McIntyre) would like to thank every one who joined them and contributed to the charity collection. Special mention and thanks to Stuart Cullen from Strand Media Group who produced a video of the event, Robert McKeag for taking photographs and current principal Mrs Anne Bell who kindly facilitated the use of the school and added her conducting skills into the mix.
Over £500 has been raised so far for the Friends of the Cancer Centre, and if anyone would like to make a donation they can do so through www.just giving.com - click on Give to a Fundraiser, type Non Nobis in the search box and you’ll find the donation page there.
