DUNLUCE Castle is to host an exciting display of hand-to-hand combat from the 13th century as part of the European Heritage Open Days next weekend.
The iconic north coast tourist attraction will allow the public access a display of weapons as well as armour and war-like accoutrements to handle and try on.
As part of the ‘living history’ renactment, visitors will be able to feel the heft of the sword, the weight of the iron maille armour and the clang of a helmet visor as they are guided through some of the fighting techniques of the professional men of the Norman period.
The ‘Armour and Fight’ event will be held at the Castle grounds on Saturday, September 14 from 10.30am to 5pm.
The following day - Sunday, September 15 at 3pm, the Castle will stage Singing Along the Northern Coast.
Visitors will be able to hear over one hundred year old poetry by Glenswoman Moira O’Neill and local man Adam Mathers, recited and set to music by poet and songwriter Catherine Hatt.
