A Coleraine girl is looking forward to the trip of a lifetime after being accepted on the International Youth Leadership Programme.

Aimee Palmer is looking forward to meeting young people from all over the world when she joins them in Cape Cod in the United States in July.

Aimee joined the club five years ago and subsequently became a Millennium Volunteer, helping and supporting young people.

Her volunteering led her to joining the International Youth Leadership Programme led by NEELB Youth Service.

Aimee was the only one chosen from the Coleraine area from many applications to participate in this exciting opportunity.

The programme is a 6 month project culminating in two weeks participation as a “leader in training” in South Shore, YMCA Summer Camp, Cape Cod.

In order to take part, each young person took part in weekend residentials and also had to raise £800 to cover travel expenses to America.

Aimee has been busy organising fundraising events such as buns sale, pyjama parties, raffles and a 60’s fancy dress night.

She was also sponsored by Ballysally Youth Club and Ballysally Community Centre.

Everyone at Ballysally Youth and Community Centre wish her well on this exiting project and hope that she really enjoys her trip to America.
