MEET the latest group of ‘Atlas Kids’ who have completed a six week group fitness course!
Established in 2014, Atlas kids club is for children aged between six to 10 years-old and aims to teach them Healthy lifestyles.
Located on 10c Captain Street Lower, Coleraine, Andrea Leighton from Atlas Gym explained: “We give kids the opportunity to learn and develop new skills and capabilities based around functional movement and skill based games. We look to challenge each kid physically and mentally with the introduction of Basic nutritional quizzes and talks. Physically, we cover basic motor skills such as agility, hand eye coordination balance etc which can be neglected in todays society through over use of phones, computers, iPods and television.
“At the end of the six weeks, each kid will have a better understanding of their own health, improved fitness, social skills and confidence. They will also be presented with a certificate award for completing the course.”
Children can join the group which started again on Saturday at 11.30am from £3.50 per class or parents can pay £18 for the 6 weeks up front per child.
The class is ran by Mark Foster who has a BSC HONS in Health and leisure, Level 2 and 3 Gym instructor and over 8 years working in the fitness industry. (Kettle bell instructor, circuits, body combat and Boxercise). He also has help from Tracy Carson or Keith “the hurricane” McKnight on selected Saturdays.
