Waste management Company, RiverRidge Recycling, has won the coveted Recycling Industry Award at the annual Sustainable Ireland Awards.
The award, sponsored by Ulster Shredders, recognised the company’s high standards of resource efficiency in the management and reprocessing of waste materials as its core business.
It was presented at a ceremony held in Belfast attended by the Northern Ireland’s foremost companies in the Irish environmental, waste management and energy sectors.
Now employing over 160 people across three sites, Newbuildings, Garvagh and Portadown, Brett Ross, Managing Director, RiverRidge Recycling, was delighted to pick up the award.
He said: “We’ve had an exceptionally busy 2015 and winning the Recycling Industry Award is a great testament to the hard work and dedication of the RiverRidge team across all three sites in Northern Ireland.
“We’ve invested substantial monies on new state of the art technology and with a complete auditable trail for our customers and all of their waste and resources we are more than happy to be acclaimed as the best in the industry.”
The Sustainable Ireland judges commended the company for being ‘a shining example of innovation and best practice.’
They also noted its self-sufficiency in that it uses recycled water for vehicle washing and toilets, and utilises a landfill gas generator to provide all its power needs on site.
The company has been transformed over the last four years from a family-run operation, offering basic waste collection and disposal services, to a dynamic organisation providing customers with technologically advanced waste management services.
Brett continued: “The team at RiverRidge Recycling should be extremely proud of this award, without their efforts the company would not have achieved such new and innovative ways to enhance the RRR offering, let alone this excellcent award.
“Through our efforts over the years, the group is now firmly in a position to offer our customerbase the most comprehensive and progressive waste management service available in Northern Ireland today.“
The awards ceremony also included a charity raffle in aid of RiverRidge Recycling’s nominated charity; Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.
Brett added: “We were thrilled that the total raised for this worthy charity at the Sustainable Ireland awards was £3,600. I would really like to thank everyone who made a contribution on the evening.”
