Mill Strand Parents’ Council are starting the school’s 30th anniversary celebrations with a colourful carnival through Portrush on Saturday, June 10.
With the help of funding from the Big Lottery Fund and Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council, the Parents’ Council are delighted to have secured Luxe Professional Spectacle and Landscape Theatre Company to take part in the Carnival with their rainbow themed floats.
On the theme of ‘Connections’ pupils from the school, dressed in rainbow colours, will take part in the parade from West Strand, along the Promenade to Barry’s, returning to the school to continue the celebrations.
A unique piece of artwork made by the pupils to celebrate this special anniversary will be unveiled.
This piece of artwork has been part of a creative process that explores the school’s connections to local history, culture and environment in order to promote a sense of pride in celebrating the school’s 30 year history as the only integrated primary school in the north coast area.
Many local community groups and organisations are involved on the day of the Carnival including Portrush Theatre Company, Portrush Heritage Group, The Coastal Centre, the RNLI and Sustrans.
Mill Strand Parents’ Council wishes to invite everyone to come along to enjoy the procession starting at 2.30pm on the West Strand.
Additionally Mill Strand Parents’ Council would like to invite those involved with the school, past and present, to return with the Carnival to the school for the unveiling and festivities.
