A branch spokesperson told the Times: “We are a completely volunteer-led branch and our primary focus is on promoting neutering campaigns and general awareness.

“The branch has raised awareness about the use of illegal snares and successfully rehomed four cats since our pen became operational in July 2013.

“We have carried out several trap, neuter, return campaigns with feral cats in the local area. This type of work is necessary as one unneutered female cat can be responsible for up to 20,000 kittens in as little as five years

“Kitten season is almost upon us and this year to date we have provided financial assistance with the neutering of 21 cats in the local area.

“If you are able to provide even a little bit of your spare time to the branch please contact us for further information on volunteering opportunities. Other ways you can help your local branch is through donating old drinks cans, used mobile phones, old printer cartridges and old stamps as we can recycle these to raise much needed funds.

“We can be contacted by phone on 07792 699416 or through email via [email protected]. You can also check out our facebook page and website for further information on the branch.”
