The Loyal Orders came together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Macosquin Orange Hall.
Bro. Mark Kelly W.D.M. welcomed lodges and preceptory’s to the village for the rededication of the Richardson Memorial Orange Hall and also the unfurling of Macosquin LOL 310 and Macosquin Smith’s Defenders RBP 256 new banners.
The Rev Canon Michael Roemmele rededicated the Richardson Memorial Orange Hall to mark its centenary. The two new banners were commissioned with local artist William Magowan of Garvagh.
Macosquin LOL 310 had their banner unfurled by the Most Worshipful Bro. Reverend Alistair Smyth BA; BD/ P.D.G.M with Bro. Ivan Kelly P.C.G.M. /D.L.C dedicating it.
Macosquin Smith’s Defenders RBP 256 had their banner unfurled by the Most Worshipful Sir Knight W. Millar Farr Q.P.M./S.G.M. and Sir Knight George Blair P.M./D.L.C dedicated it.
During the ceremony a vote of thanks was then expressed by Bro. Darren Gaston W.M / P.D.M. LOL 310 to all and this was seconded by Sir Knight Kenneth Hutchinson W.M. R.B.P 256.
Following the official eremonies Macosquin First Flute Band and Ballinteer Flute Band led all in a parade through the village.
On their return to the hall there was a light supper laid on for everyone.
The centenary anniversary event was very well supported with the Grand Lodge, Imperial Black, County and Districts of both Orders represented.
There were also a large number of members present from local lodges and preceptories to ones from Ballymena, Ballymoney, Belfast, Castlerock, Coleraine, Garvagh, Kilrea, Limavady and Magherafelt.
The officers, members of the Lodge and Preceptory would like to express their appreciation to all who came along to support them on the night to mark this milestone anniversary.
