A coffee morning in aid of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice has raised £1,225.
The event was organised and held in Frances and Rossana Morelli’s home on November 4.
The fundraiser was a huge success as friends, family and members of the local community turned up for the fresh brew of coffee and the assortment of culinary delights.
For Frances and Rossana, NI Children’s Hospice is a charity close to their heart.
In October the baby daughter of their dear friend, Michelle Christie, passed away. Little Amelia received specialist care from the local charity throughout her short life.
Following her death her mother set up a tribute fund to support the work of the charity. Frances and Rossana were keen to show their support.
Michelle told The Coleraine Times: “Rossana and Frances are good friends of mine. They approached me and asked if they could run a coffee afternoon to try raise some money for the Children’s Hospice as they knew how invaluable it was to us during Amelia’s short life.
“On the day they gave everyone coffee or tea and whatever buns cakes they wanted to eat. There was a donation box, a raffle shelf and cake and buns for sale stand to raise funds. The house was very busy all day. The grand total was £1,225, an amazing total!”
Highlighting how every pound makes a difference, Matthew Allen, Events Fundraiser for the NI Children’s Hospice said: ‘I would like to thank Frances and Rossana for hosting the coffee morning and raising such a fantastic amount in memory of Amelia.
“It is inspiring to see them rally around Michelle at such a difficult time. The Children’s Hospice is always in need of fundraising to provide specialist care. Every £30 raised could pay for one hour of specialist nursing care for a life-limited child. Events like these really help to maintain our services.”
