PROSPECTIVE students, parents and young adults were out in full force to seek advice from academics and career professionals at the Northern Regional Colleges Open Days.
The event which is firmly embedded in the calendar of all the post primary schools in the college’s catchment area saw hundreds of young people and adults attend the Coleraine Campus to sample a taste of college life.
For some it was the first experience to enter the world of their local further and higher education college which provided them with the opportunity to view the college’s facilities and discuss with tutors their career opportunities and the full-time programmes available at the college.
There was plenty of information and advice for potential students on, Access to University, Business, Construction and the Built Environment, IT & Computing, Engineering, Applied Science, Sports Studies, Health & Social Care, Travel and Tourism, Training for Success Programme.
Visitors were able to view the facilities and see the variety of demonstrations throughout the Coleraine campus.
Ian Houston Deputy Director for Curriculum commented that “Vocational courses and Training Programmes are a very popular pathway into both work and degree courses for young people.
“And as one of the largest colleges in the Province for both Further Education and Higher Education courses, we can offer and extensive range combined with excellent facilities and teaching staff.
“This year, we have noticed a steady rise in our applications and in visitor numbers to all of our campuses and with more parents and students also interested in what we can offer in Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diplomas and Certificates.”
