ACCLAIMED watercolourist Barbara Allen brings a stunning new show to Flowerfield Arts Centre as she celebrates the opening of Back to the Drawing Board, a collection of drawings and paintings.
The exhibition opens with a special reception on Saturday and remains on display until November 26.
Born in Belfast, Barbara graduated from the University of Ulster in 1982 with a BA (hons) Degree in Graphic Design. An advanced diploma in 1984 afforded her some time to perfect a unique watercolour style. Two solo exhibitions followed at the Bell Gallery in 1986 and 1987.
Barbara won several awards in 1989, 1991 and 1992 which enabled her to take a one-woman show to Bergen in Norway in 1993. Recent exhibitions include ArtAid 2010, La Boca 2008 and 2009 and The Smithsonian Institute Folk Life Festival, Washington DC in 2006.
Her works appear in many collections including the John Hewitt Collection, Norwegain Telecom, National Self Portrait Gallery, the University of Limerick, and DIAGEO Northern Ireland.
Four times winner of Ross’s Fine Art Auctioneers Watercolour Prize at the Royal Ulster Academy, Barbara is best known for her architectural studies, in particular that of the Georgian era. The Back to the Drawing Board exhibition opens with a drinks reception from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday. The special guest is Brian Ferran HRHA HRUA.
