The second annual ‘Gig in the Dig’ organised by Moneydig Rural Network will take place on Friday September 18 and Saturday September 19.

This event is aimed at the whole community, with plenty on offer for both adults and kids.

Speaking to The Coleraine Times this week, Patricia McQuillan, Secretary of the group told us more about the event.

“We held our first ever ‘Gig in the Dig’ last year and it was really successful.

“When we sat down to organise this year’s event, we spoke to a those that had attended last year.

“We are delighted to be taking ‘Gig in the Dig’ to the Three Oaks this year for the Saturday night.

“They have a great dance hall and there is plenty of space for the outdoor attractions.

“We have lined up a great Garth Brooks tribute, this will be followed by well-known local band ‘Double Take’, explained Patricia.

The fun kicks off with a kids disco in Moneydig Orange Hall on Friday, September 18.

The disco will run from 7.30 to 9pm.

On Saturday, Garth Brooks tribute Johnny Brooks takes to the stage as the headline act at the Three Oaks.

Mandy’s Country Kickers line dancing group will also be performing and there will be a rodeo bull for anyone brave enough.

Outdoors there will be stalls, a hog roast and much more.

Admission is by ticket only - tickets are available from any committee member, or from the DUP office in Garvagh.

Patricia went on to thank the DCAL and Causeway Coast and Glens council for funding.
