A TEN year old girl has died after getting into difficulties at Runkerry Strand in Portballintrae.
The girl was rescued from the sea yesterday afternoon, attempts were made to save her live on the beach and then in hospital.
Last night (Sunday) the girl, who had been in a ‘life threatening condition’ died.
It is understood that prior to her death doctors had attempted to transfer her from Causeway Hospital to Belfast, but the ambulance had to turn back after her condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, Portrush lifeboat was tasked to rescue a young boy who got into difficulties near the rocks in Portstewart.
The lifeboat brought him to Portrush where an ambulance took him to hospital.
