BLUEGRASS fans are in for a treat this Thursday (February 10th) at Flowerfield Arts Centre as the venue welcomes one of the finest live bands in the UK – the Southern Tenant Folk Union.
A seven-piece all-acoustic band with banjo, mandolin, fiddle & harmony vocals, the STFU can perform both sides of the genre, either with ‘soul & beauty’ on their murder ballads and laments or tearing it up with their ‘Hootenanny sawdust-kickers’.
The whole package comes tied up with amazing musicianship, heartfelt storytelling, a cappella singing and a special brand of honest and intelligent music.
Their new album, The New Farming Scene, has picked up some rave reviews, with Andy Gill describing it as ‘a bold concept piece’ and awarding four stars in The Indepenent.
