COLERAINE has scooped a Heart Hero award for its outstanding dedication and commitment to BHF Northern Ireland since it became a Heart Town.
Earlier this year, Coleraine Borough Council held a month long series of activities including collections, CPR training, Heart Health Information days and a sponsored paddle board by DJ Alan Simpson which helped raise awareness of the partnership in the local community.
Coleraine also launched their first Heart Walk where local families and friends came together and took part in a 2.5 mile sponsored walk along the banks of the River Bann.
Tara Cunningham, Public Relations Manager Coleraine Borough Council and Heart Town Steering Group Member, was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the Group.
Tara said: “The health and well-being of the people of Coleraine is our top priority and we will continue to support BHF Northern Ireland as a Heart Town to improve Heart Health in the Borough of Coleraine, while raising awareness of how BHF Northern Ireland can support our local communities.
Barbara Osborne, Head of Volunteer Fundraising for Northern Ireland said: “Coleraine Heart Town has been a shining example of true partnership working through the Heart Town initiative.”
