What an amazing year it has been, for local mum Jayne Workman.
This lady is no stranger to the life of Slimming World. Readers will remember Jayne started originally in Stranocum and Garvagh group four years ago when she had lost a whopping four stone herself. Her dream then and still today was to empower members to shed the burden of excess weight.
Meanwhile Jayne had put her career on hold, to have two lovely boys Harry and Andrew. She recalls: “Those pregnancies were very difficult, as I took gestational diabetes, and had to manage the condition with insulin 4 times a day. I still followed the plan to try and stabilise my daily readings though, it truly was the best decision, as it kept my weight gain to a minimum.”
It was at a post op appointment that Jayne was told she was ‘running’ towards having Diabetes permanently. Devastated with the prospect, Jayne went straight back to group each week as a member, and since May 2016 has lost a life changing four and a half stone again!
She continued: “I feel so much healthier and confident and I’m clear of Diabetes, Slimming world gave my kids their mum back. I can run in the park, go swimming and chase them around their bedrooms. I love going out socially now too, I used to refuse invitations, as I felt so miserable and ashamed, I honestly felt as though I was dying inside.
“The best bit… I did it all without feeling hungry! I could eat my favourite dinners! I could have steak and chips, and even go back for seconds! And to top it off I was still able to enjoy a glass of wine! One meal really can suit all the family, even though life is hectic as a busy mum of four and work, SW has enabled me to lose four stone twice!”
Wanting to support others, Jayne returned to SW and became a Consultant for Cloughmills Group at 5.30 and 7.30pm from September 2016 and due to demand opened a further group on Thursday mornings at 9.30am at the same venue. She now looks forward to opening in the toon!
She added: “I am very excited about launching in Ballymoney, I have wanted to support members in my home town for sometime now.”
Group truly is the most amazing place. Inside those walls, there is help, laughter, sharing and caring, a hot coffee and all the support in the world waiting for you. Jayne extends a warm invitation to anyone that is unhappy with their weight, to come along on Tuesday, March 21 at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, Victoria Street, Ballymoney.
