Flowerfield Arts Centre will present a Celebration of Female Songwriters with Mandy Bingham, Amanda St John and Edelle McMahon in concert this Thursday.

Mandy Bingham writes songs that make a deep and lasting connection to the listener and delivers them with a voice that is strong, pure and compelling.

The daughter of renowned singer songwriter David McWilliams, she is following firmly in his footsteps.

Her melodies, lyrics and purity of voice make a very personal connection to the listener.

Mandy first took to the stage with her self-penned songs in 2013, and has since supported Bap Kennedy at the closing concert of last year’s Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, and at his album launch earlier that year.

She has received excellent reviews for her live shows and recently released her debut EP Volume 1 to critical acclaim.

Also appearing on the Flowerfield stage will be Amanda St John who has been in the music business most of her life having collaborated with some of the biggest local names in the industry.

One of Northern Ireland’s leading female singer songwriters, she has been likened to Dusty Springfield and Imelda May and is a favourite on the North Coast.

She writes honest and intimate songs and sings them with a voice that would charm the stars from the sky!

Her biggest influences are Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers, and Roberta Flack and she has been singing since she was a child.

In autumn last year Amanda ventured out to Nashville to work with Benita Hill (who has written two No.1 hits for Garth Brooks), various artists at ‘Razor and Tie’ Publishing Agency and Jon Tiven who has written or produced for artists like BB King, Wilson Pickett, Huey Lewis and used to play Guitar with the Rolling Stones.

The third lady to take the stage will be Edelle McMahon who blends influences ranging from Sean-Nós storytelling to starkly confessional acoustics, her music features a spellbinding mix of heart-tugging melodies, powerfully brooding lyrics and haunting vocals.

Edelle is also a familiar face on the northern gigging circuit, as well as being one of the organisers of the popular Belfast acoustic showcase, “The Lagan Sessions”

For the past several years, Edelle has been a performing member of Belfasts’ country rockers ‘Jackson Cage’.

Enjoy all three of these talented performers in the round at this special opening concert for Atlantic Sessions.
