Lidl’s random act of kindness for Focus!

Residents of the North Coast reaped the rewards of the Lidl Surprises team who paid a visit to Focus on Family in Ballysally, Coleraine recently.

In a random act of kindness for Focus on Family, the Lidl Surprises team displayed their green fingers by clearing garden beds so the children from the community group could plant flowers and vegetables in the spring. The team also helped out inside the centre with some painting for the facility.

Lidl Surprises is an exciting new campaign that has been recently launched in Northern Ireland where a dedicated Lidl Surprises team travels to local communities paying impromptu visits to groups such as mums and tots, exercise classes, youth clubs and community centres. The team hand out lots of Lidl treats which showcase the locally sourced products from Northern Ireland.

The Focus on Family group invests in each child at the centre to assist in their learning and growth through a holistic approach to development; enabling them to discover the world around them in a child-led way.

The ‘Grow Your Own’ garden will help them learn new skills and have new experiences and the Lidl Surprises team are thrilled to have helped in the learning process.

Operating for over 18 years in an area of high deprivation, Focus on Family is the first nurturing sand development centre in Ireland. They provide a range of family and community support programmes including childcare, nurturing, domestic abuse, skills-courses, therapies and community events.

Brendan Patterson, Project Manager at Focus on Family said: “We want to say a big thank you to the Lidl Surprises team for their great work at Focus on Family. Gardening and painting may seem like everyday activities but without the contribution from the Lidl guys, we wouldn’t have been able to carry out other plans in the centre so their visit has had made a big difference.”
