SDLP Causeway Coast and Glens councillor, Roisin Loftus is calling on Transport NI to introduce new road safety measures on the Agivey Road.

The councillor met with people living in Aghadowey area last week and heard details of recent incidents on the stretch, she told The Coleraine Times that ‘urgent action is required’ on the road.

The SDLP woman said: “There are many properties along this stretch of road and it is becoming a death trap for homeowners leaving and entering their properties due to the speed of the traffic.

“It is not enough to stand by and hope there are no further accidents.

“I have submitted a written request to Transport NI to take immediate action.

“As soon as they come back to me with a response I will be sharing it with the homeowners.”
