With the launch of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal and Dementia Awareness Week both falling in March, Marie Curie Moyle have decided there is no better time to announce their big auction, which will be taking place at 11am on Saturday 3rd May at Armoy Mart.
The local group, who are experienced fundraisers, have never held such an event before but are overwhelmed by support for the idea, having already received a vintage tractor and horse cart as very generous donations.
Pictured are the McCormick family who kindly donated a tractor for the auction.
They are also delighted to have the backing of Armoy Livestock so the event is shaping up to be a great success.
Driven by personal experiences with both cancer and Alzheimer’s, the group are reaching out to businesses across Northern Ireland and anyone who would like to make a donation.
Group member Briege Hamilton said: “We are very excited about this event, it has taken a lot of time and planning but it will all be worthwhile in the end.
“Unfortunately most of our group members have seen close friends and family suffer at the hands of both these diseases.
“Hopefully the money raised can go some way towards providing comfort to those who need it most in such difficult times.
“We do however need your help in order to make this event as successful as possible. We are relying on donations big or small from near and far!”
What type of donations are Marie Curie Moyle looking for?
They would encourage a variety of donations, such as gift vouchers, art, equipment from any industry, sports memorabilia etc. They will not be accepting household furniture...but they will accept a house!
