East Londonderry MLA Adrian McQuillan has welcomed today’s annoucement that £8 million of funding has been allocated to the A26 dualling project.
Finance Minister Simon Hamilton said in Stormont today that he was ”extremely pleased” to announce the allocation of £8.1 million worth of money for 2014/2015.
The funding will allow the commencement of work of the A26 Glarryford Road scheme where an additional eight kilometres of dual carriageway will be built.
McQuillan said he has no doubt that the project will boost the Coleraine area.
“I have no doubt that this will bring more visitors to the Coleraine area.
“We now need to lobby for phase two of the project - for the dualling to continue into Ballymoney. I hope that the work begins sooner rather than later.”
