DUP Assembly Member Adrian McQuillan has voiced his support for the Active School Travel Programme run by Sustrans.
Sustrans is a charity that encourages and enables people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys they make every day.
The scheme is already working with 191 schools across Northern Ireland. Their work is a huge benefit to children and their communities with happier, healthier kids; fewer cars on busy roads at peak times; and less congestion, noise and pollution around school gates.
A number of local schools have been given a Bronze Award.
MLA Adrian McQuillan said: “It’s time we all began making smarter travel choices. It’s great for schools to be involved in programmes such as this which encourage a
healthier lifestyle. I hope many pupils in the area benefit from the programme.”
