Meet the Portrush model, who has reached the final of a beauty pageant with a difference!
Shawneen Allen (24) will travel to Armagh later this month to compete in the Northern Ireland heat of the F’ace of Europe and the World’ charity beauty pageant.
“This is no ordinary beauty pageant,” tells the local girl.
“It’s not just about how you look on the outside it’s also about feeling good on the inside. The competition encourages you to raise money for their chosen charities, so you are also doing something for others at the same time,” explained Shawneen.
“Each contestant is asked to organise activities to raise money for two charities - Headway Kent, a charity that helps those with head injuries and Down’s and Proud, a charity that helps those with Down’s Syndrome.”
Shawneen is no stranger to competitions: “My mum used to enter me into competitions from I was a little girl. It’s great meeting people with similar interests. I am really looking forward to the final, which will be held in the City Hotel in Armagh on June 21.”
Shawneen already has her outfits picked for the three rounds she will compete in - a‘white dress’ round, a fashion category and the final round will see contestants walking down the runway in an evening gown.
The winner of the Northern Ireland heat will travel to Kent to join up with the other UK winners.
The finalists will then join winners from around Europe in Disneyland Paris in October at Disney’s magical castle.
Good luck Shawneen!
