The modernisation of the Post Office at Harpurs Hill is welcome news for the residents of that area, according to SDLP Councillor Stephanie Quigley who has welcomed the investment.
She said: “This investment is living proof that the Post Office is determined to remain a significant player in the lives of local communities and this is particularly important in the Harpurs Hill area of Coleraine where a large number of customers depend on its services.
“I particularly welcome the longer opening hours and the modern environment which will give renewed confidence to its customers that the Post Office is here for the long haul.
“While there has been concern about the demise of Post Offices in the rural areas there has also been concern about the future of this vital service in suburban areas where people may not have the means to travel to the town centre.
“I urge everyone to give this new venture their full support which is the best means of ensuring that in the future there is no threat to the Post Office which has served people faithfully for many years.
“The Post Office offers an ever-expanding range of products, including banking services, which are now available over the counter by well-trained staff at competitive prices and are well worth enquiring about.”
