TRANSLINK is advising road users that a series of road closures will be in place during August to facilitate engineering work at Umbra and Bellarena level crossings along the Derry/Londonderry railway line.
From 7am on August 21 until 7am on August 22 the A2 Seacoast Road will be closed between Downhill and Benone with a diversionary route in place via Binevenagh Road.
From 7am on August 29 until 7am on August 30 the A2 Seacoast Road will be closed at Bellarena Train Station with a diversionary route in place via the Limestone Road.
Speaking about the work, Translink NI Railways Route Manager, Frank Moore, said: “These road closures are essential in order to facilitate re-railing of the track.
“It will also mean some changes to local bus services due to road conditions during the work. Therefore, we would advise passengers travelling during this period to leave extra time for their journey.
“On August 21, Ulsterbus service 134 will operate via Binevenagh Road throughout the day and also on the 6.40am service on August 22. Service 134 will also operate via the Limestone Road on August 29.
“On August 21 & 29, Ulsterbus service 734 will operate via Castlerock and the Mountain Road. There will also be a dedicated shuttle bus service from Bellarena Train Station to Limavady Buscentre where passengers can connect with bus services 734, 234, 143 and 144.
“Work will be carried out during the day and overnight in order to complete it as quickly as possible. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for the patience and support of road users and our passengers as we work hard to deliver better passenger transport services for everyone.”
