GARVAGH and District Development Association has announced an exciting and varied programme of classes, workshops and events.
The Spring programme commences on Saturday, March 10 with a one-day Flower Arranging Workshop with James Burnside from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
In this one day workshop James will cover both traditional and contemporary techniques and styles. Having taught leisure classes for many years, you will find James’ combination of knowledge, skills, experience and enthusiasm for his subject enlightening. You will be required to bring your own materials. A list will be given upon enrolment for each course.
You should have some knowledge and experience of flower arranging to attend these one day courses
To celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 17 from 10.30am to 12.30pm Krafty Kidz will be running a themed workshop for children aged five and over.
This will be a chance for children to come along and get crafty and creative while having a lot of fun. Places are limited so book early.
On Tuesday, March 27 The Farm Gate will present a Food and Craft Evening in Garvagh Community Building from 7.30pm to 9.30pm with special guests Rustic Country Crafts and Atlantic Crafts.
The evening will comprise of demonstrations and talks on self sufficiency, cooking with rare breed pork, gardening, growing and flavouring with herbs and local country crafts.
Delightful home cooked food and locally produced refreshments will be served. Food and crafts will be available to buy on the evening.
After Easter, willow sculptor, Louise McLean will be running a four-week Willow Sculpture and Basket Making Course, commencing on Wednesday, May 2 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
Participants will learn to work with willow creating attractive pieces for example conical plant climbers, butterflies, dragonflies and other creative ideas to give your garden a unique feeling. There is also an opportunity to learn basic basket making techniques.
Children are invited to come along and discover the wonderful creative world of Jumping Clay on Saturday, May 5 from 10.30am to 12noon.
Jumping Clay is created from a polymer base; scented with jasmine it’s completely non-toxic, and if left in the open air will dry naturally without the need for baking in an oven. The clay is 100% safe and incorporates silver-nano technology to prevent the spread of germs.
The class will also allow the children to ignite their imagination and get to create anything they like and ultimtely just have a lot of fun. Suitable for children from 5 years and over.
Children, do you enjoy clowning around? If the answer is yes and you are aged seven and over then come along to a half-day Circus Skills workshop on Saturday, June 2 from 10.30pm to 12.30pm. This workshop promises to be a lot of fun as you try your hand at juggling, walking on stilts and plate spinning.
