A visit to Portrush is a must this Saturday to take part in a new and exciting event which will offer the opportunity to walk, climb, dance, surf, be amazed and entertained.
The novel event forms part of the ReVitalise Portrush strategic regeneration project, which is funded by the Department for Social Development and administered by Coleraine Borough Council in partnership with local community and business representatives.
On Saturday, September 21 the streets of Portrush will be alive with a plethora of events and activities happening in and around the Peninsula, and the town centre will be buzzing with `on street’ acoustic music sessions.
A range of activities are available to encourage people to sign up and take part in – or to simply watch and enjoy.
All of the activities on offer will be expertly supervised with all equipment supplied.
The programme of activities includes abseiling, a heritage walking tour, surfing sessions, an adventure high ropes challenge, multi cage games – including soccer and volleyball – urban street dance displays, street basketball, kite flying and music.
Mayor of Coleraine Borough Council, Councillor David Harding, said: “The programme of events provides a host of activities for all the family, for all age groups and for a broad range of abilities.
“It is a great opportunity to either take part in or witness something new. I’m looking forward to a great day in Portrush.”
Kerr Street Green will provide the more adventurous activities with an opportunity to take part in the Sport NI Activ8 high ropes challenge.
Meanwhile, in the same location, young people will be able to try their hand at a range of games in the new Coleraine Borough Council sports cage.
‘Try it’ basketball sessions and displays will be held at Station Square, while at the amphitheatre, members of the public will be encouraged to try some Street Dancing.
Activities begin from 10am and will continue to run through into the evening where tribute band ‘Elevation’ will feature the sounds of Bono and U2 to finish off the day.
Why not come along and enjoy a FREE family day out with a difference?
