A well known figure in local football sadly passed away at the weekend.
Christopher ‘Eggy’ Law lost his long battle with Frederick’s syndrome on Saturday.
Eggy was a well known figure in the Coleraine area, and had been in a wheel chair from he was 18.
He had a real love for football, and was manager of Coleraine side, Brook Street.
He sampled success with his team as junior footballers then in the Coleraine and District League and in many of the summer cups.
Eggy was also a keen poet and had a large volume of work.
He attended the Pavestone Centre in Coleraine and was one of the Centre’s real characters.
Tributes have been paid to the local man by many teams in the Coleraine and District League and beyond. A message on the League Facebook page paid this tribute: “Eggy never let his illness get in the way of leading a full life - his success and love of football was second to none - he will be sorely missed - but fondly remembered in the game.”
Eggy was the son of Isobel and Teddy of Willow Drive in Coleraine.
Brother to Jacqueline, Gillian, Jonathan and Nicola and a much loved father of Cody and Dylan.
His funeral will take place today, Tuesday, June 9 from his home at 2pm.
